In 2002, Jim and Barbe Kackley invited their daughter Shannon, her husband Steve Badger, and their nine children to join them on a farm right outside of Mineral Point. It was then that we started Alpacas of Prairie Station, a multi-generational family farm raising alpacas and their produce.
We boast prize-winning alpacas and 101 things to do with alpaca wool! Our herd could provide an interested buyer in everything from fiber animals to stud males and dams with babies in a variety of the 22 natural colors of alpaca. At the same time, we are known for our hand-dyed roving and yarns, as well as tools for needle-felting, spinning, knitting, and crocheting.
Our animals have been shown in five different states and our yarn is available at The Cat and Crow in Mt. Horeb and La Bella Vita, right here in Mineral Point.
We are happy to accommodate visitors to the farm. Our farm store is also open by appointment.
