Open Saturday, August 29th, 8:30-11a in Water Tower Park

Hello MP Market Goers!

Can you believe Labor Day is already next weekend?

For many of us, that means one more summer cookout, one more gathering with friends and family, and one more chance to fire up the grill before fall settles in.

So we asked a couple of our meat vendors a very important question:

How do YOU grill?

🔥 PJ’s Poultry

At PJ’s Poultry, just about every cut is a favorite, but if they have to pick one, it’s chicken thighs. Why? They stay moist and juicy on the grill.

Their grilling philosophy is simple: don’t overdo it. Light seasoning lets the flavor of the chicken shine through.

One of their best tips? Turn your chicken often and keep the skin side up more than down to prevent it from burning. And don’t overlook the humble drumstick!

For an easy Labor Day meal, PJ’s recommends grilling a half chicken. They also love putting fresh market vegetables right on the grill — beets, potatoes, and squash are all favorites. Add some fresh coleslaw and you’ve got yourself a pretty great summer meal.

🔥 Rockin’ Highlands

For the folks at Rockin’ Highlands, it’s hard to beat a good rib steak on the grill, with New York strip coming in a close second.

Their advice? Give your beef a little time.

They recommend lightly salting your steak while it’s partially thawed, then letting it finish thawing uncovered in the refrigerator for a day or two. The process helps develop flavor and tenderness before it ever hits the grill. When you’re ready to cook, add your favorite seasonings, sear it over high heat, and aim for medium-rare to medium for the best flavor.

And if you’re looking for something a little different, ask them about the Denver steak or Flat Iron steak. Both are delicious, versatile cuts that may not get the attention they deserve.

So…what’s your plan?

Whether you’re hosting the neighborhood, heading to a family picnic, or simply want to squeeze in one more summer meal on the patio, the Mineral Point Market has plenty of inspiration for your Labor Day menu.

And here’s the best part: Rockin’ Highlands has the beef, PJ’s has the chicken, and the rest of your meal can come straight from the market, too.

Fresh vegetables, berries, cheese, bread, flowers, baked goods, and more are all waiting for you Saturday morning.

Come stock up, fire up the grill, and make the most of that last big summer weekend.

See you Saturday!

The sweet corn is done, but raspberries are finally here! 🍓 And just like that, we’re making the turn from summer harvest to fall.
Here’s what we’ll have at the Mineral Point Market this Saturday:
🍓 Raspberries – They’re finally making an appearance!
🥔 Freshly dug potatoes – Red & gold, fresh from the field and perfect for the grill.
🫛 Dilly Beans – Crisp, tangy, and dill-y-icious. 😉
🥚 Farm-fresh eggs – because breakfast is better when it’s local.
🍯 Honey – golden goodness from our hardworking bees.
🥄 Frozen cream of asparagus soup base – We’re running low, so grab some while you can!
🎃 And maybe…squash! Keep an eye out for some of our fall favorites, including delicata squash.
And a little heads-up: We only have THREE Mineral Point Markets left this season! 😳 If there’s something from the Patch you’ve been meaning to stock up on, don’t wait too long. And if you realize you’ve forgotten something after we’re gone — or you’re already thinking “Okay, I’m ready for fall!”—come visit us at the Patch! The farm store is open daily from 9 AM–6 PM, and the pumpkins, gourds, and squash are getting ready for their big fall debut. 🎃🍂

What great weather we have had this week! I sure hope you have been able to get out and enjoy it! Another busy week for us at the farm getting the kids ready to go back to school. We had a very large tree taken down this week, and have lots of clean up to do. If anyone is looking for something to do, you are welcome to stop out and help us haul brush. 😃
I’m planning on being at the market again this week with lots of honey and eggs! While going through my hives on Friday, I found 3 more frames of comb honey that I had forgotten about, so my limited supply got a little bigger!
I will have lots of honey this week, ranging in size from 1/2 pound up to 3 pound jars, as well as comb honey. I will also have chicken eggs, and a few duck eggs. Hope to see you Saturday!
If you can’t wait until Saturday, or aren’t able to make it to the Market, feel free to stop out to the farm and check out our roadside stand! While you’re there, feel free to haul some brush to the burn pile! 😀
Thanks,
Mike
