Hello MP Market Goers!

Happy National Farmers Market Week — Let’s Celebrate Together!

It’s officially National Farmers Market Week—a time when markets across the country are celebrated for the fresh food they bring, the community they build, and the support they give to local growers and makers. This week, we’re proud to be part of that nationwide story, and to continue our role at the heart of Mineral Point.

🚜 Why Farmers Market Week Matters
-Across the U.S., farmers markets help farmers, food producers, and creatives sell direct to their neighbors—with over 8,700 markets and 40,000 farmers nationwide.
-According to USDA, these markets strengthen food access, local economies, and the vitality of small-scale farming communities.
-Markets foster connection: whether buying ingredients, swapping recipes, or chatting with a vendor—it’s part local food hub, part neighborhood gathering.

🌾 Our Market Celebration-this week, we’re joining markets nationwide to:
🙏Thank our vendors who bring fresh produce, meats, baked goods, flowers, soap, and more
🥳Celebrate our customers who shop local and support local business
🌟Recognize the community bond that grows stronger with every Saturday morning in the park

 Look for Us This Saturday!
Even though national events wrap up soon, our market belongs to you—every single week.

🕣 Saturday, 8:30–11:00am
📍 Water Tower Park
🌦️ Rain or shine

Stop by, stock up, connect, and celebrate—because National Farmers Market Week lasts in spirit all year long.

Local. Fresh. Convenient.

Warmly,

Aaron’s Peppers
Several people have asked, “When can we expect to see your peppers at the market?”
Well, believe it would help to share the “life of” the 2025 HOT chile pepper selections: Brazilian Starfish and (the 2024 favorite) Bulgarian Carrot.
(Continued from 8/2/25 News Page)
Last week in July:
Brazilian Starfish: green and tiny, teetering on the tip of a very slender branch, looking like a flattened 7-ribbed pumpkin, will turn orange, finally “ripe” fiery red. Already 35” with the potential to reach 6 + feet high.
Bulgarian Carrot: tallest plant measures 19 inches, 3 + inch long, green pods starting to turn color, soon to be “ripe” orange.
Water and fertilize. Add support. Repeat.
August
Now we wait. . . .
An “aside” So far, pleased with use of in-ground 3 gallon* containers.
Originally chosen to “limit” type of soil; also found to provide greater control over drainage. *reasonable, as only 21(count)

Our Homestead formerly Magic Light Photography
What a beautiful day we had for the Market last weekend! I wasn’t originally planning on being there, but we got home from vacation earlier than planned so I decided at the last minute to go to the market and I’m sure glad I did! I am planning on being back again this week and I will be fully stocked with local, raw honey. All of my honey is produced right on our little farm, just 2 miles east of Mineral Point. I’m unsure if I will have eggs this week as we have had people stopping by the farm to get them this week. If I do have eggs, my supply will be very limited, so shop early! If you are in the area, you should consider taking a short drive past Our Homestead (4400 Hwy 39) to check out our sunflower field! It’s in peak bloom right now, but it won’t last long. We also added a self-service farm stand that currently has some sun gold tomatoes, zucchini. Pay what you will for the produce! I will also have honey in the stand! Hope to see you Saturday, or at the farm!
Thanks,
Mike

Rockin’ Highlands
👋 Hi Mineral Point Market friends!
Rockin’ Highlands Farm has what’s needed this Saturday!
Whether planning a late summer BBQ or stocking up for delicious meals, the perfect cuts are available.
Come and chat with us about what makes Rockin’ Highlands Farm’s Scottish Highland beef special.
Here’s a bonus:
Want to try the incredible Reverse Sear method?
Low & Slow: Season steak and place it on a rack in a 250°F oven. Cook until the desired internal temperature is reached (around 115°F for medium-rare).
Rest: Remove the steak and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Sear: While resting, heat a cast iron skillet or grill to high heat. Add a high-heat oil (like avocado oil) and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until a crust forms.
Enjoy! Slice and enjoy a perfectly cooked, juicy steak!
See you Saturday!

Shooting Star Farm
It’s been a pleasant week. I’ve actually had to water some transplants due to the nice breezes and lower humidity. It may take a while to get back on track with salad greens and lettuces, but I will have some this weekend – maybe a bit more than last Saturday. Tomatoes are coming in stronger, too. I’ll continue to have cherry, saladette, red, and heirlooms, along with the first plum tomatoes. In addition, we have fresh carrots, green beans, more white and Italian bottle onions, scallions, mixed beets, eggplant, tomatillos, jalapeno peppers, shishito peppers, kale, Swiss chard, red cabbage, cucumbers, zucchini and a random mix of sweet peppers. Turns out bell peppers suited for northern climates drop their blossoms when it is both hot AND humid. That explains the dearth of bell peppers on my beautiful, healthy plants. They’ll come along eventually. See you Saturday!

Sunny Side Down
We hate missing market in Mineral Point, and unfortunately this Saturday, the 9th, we will be out one more time.
Mandy had a planned surgery this week and is doing well, but still recovering. So we are down one baker.
We will be back at Mineral Point Market on Aug. 16th, and that should be the last one we miss this season😊
