Hello MP Market Goers!

⌛ The countdown is on — just 4 Mineral Point Markets remain this season! 📅

Despite the warmer-than-usual temperatures, fall is marching along in our fields and bakeries. Shooting Star Farm’s tables are brimming with the abundance of the season: baskets of root crops, leafy greens, peppers, squash, and the last waves of late-summer tomatoes. Our bakers are leaning into the cozy comforts of fall with pumpkin bars, apple pies, and cider donuts. And for those who love to savor the season, jars of honey, jams, pickles, and sauces line our tables — ready to fill your pantry and brighten your table long after market day.

So, while the days are still warm, now is the perfect time to celebrate fall’s plenty. Soon enough it’ll be time to put the grill away and pull out the crockpot, and nothing makes that transition more delicious than the fresh flavors you’ll find at the market. 💛

See you at the market!

Aaron’s Peppers
Question: Is there any rhyme or reason why the number of HOT
peppers brought to the market fluctuates week-to-week? The short answer is “Yes.”
One of the key factors is: days to maturity, also known as days to harvest.
This refers to the average number of days it takes a vegetable plant to be ready for harvest. Started INDOORS (in January), days to maturity began when the TRANSPLANTS were set in the garden.
Out in the garden – in pots sunk into the ground – it took 92 days to produce the 1 st ripe, fiery red Brazilian Starfish pepper.
Through the years, have found that the more rare and most interesting peppers are those that take longer.

Our Homestead formerly Magic Light Photography
Wow, this fall weather has been just about perfect, and this week looks like more of the same! This weather has given me the opportunity to spend a lot of time outside and getting things checked off my to-do list, but for some reason my list isn’t getting any smaller! Oh well, that’s just life on the farm I guess. I have been busy filling the last of my honey bottles this week so I will be well stocked with local, raw honey for the rest of the markets. I will also have our pasture raised chicken and duck eggs. If you can’t make it to the market, or can’t wait, feel free to reach out to me and let me know what you need. I have also been trying to keep our self service roadside stand stocked with eggs and honey so you can stop there anytime. The address is 4400 Hwy 39. Hope to see you Saturday!
Thanks,
Mike

Rockin’ Highlands
👋 Hi Mineral Point Market friends!
Rockin’ Highlands Farm has what’s needed this Saturday!
Whether planning a late summer BBQ or stocking up for delicious meals, the perfect cuts are available. Come and chat with us about what makes Rockin’ Highlands Farm’s Scottish Highland beef special.
Here’s a bonus:
Want to try the incredible Reverse Sear method?
Low & Slow: Season steak and place it on a rack in a 250°F oven. Cook until the desired internal temperature is reached (around 115°F for medium-rare).
Rest: Remove the steak and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Sear: While resting, heat a cast iron skillet or grill to high heat. Add a high-heat oil (like avocado oil) and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until a crust forms.
Enjoy! Slice and enjoy a perfectly cooked, juicy steak!
See you Saturday!

Follow along with us on our Facebook page to see what’s happening this fall to prepare for more flowers next spring! 🌱✨🌸
