Scroll down for a complete list of who will be vending this week.
Hello MP Market Goers!
Behind the Scenes: What It Takes to Get to Market ✨
Have you ever wondered what it takes for vendors to get ready for market day? Think of it a little like packing for a trip… except instead of swimsuits and sunscreen, it’s baskets of veggies, trays of muffins, soaps, crafts, and flowers! 🌻🥖🥕 AND they do it every week!
Step 1: The Harvest & the Bake & the Craft
Starting mid-week, vendors are picking, baking, or crafting (do crafters really ever stop?):
Fresh greens, tomatoes, or root veggies pulled straight from the fields, washed, and packed 🌱
Loaves of bread and pastries filling kitchens with the smell of butter and cinnamon 🥐
Handmade soaps, candles, or art packed with care so it arrives in perfect condition 🧼
Step 2: The Packing List
Just like a trip, there’s a whole list of “don’t forgets”:
Tables & tablecloths
Tents & weights (to keep them from flying away!)
Signs & price lists & tills
Coolers for meats, eggs, and dairy 🥚🥩
Baskets, crates, and displays to show everything off beautifully
Step 3: The Load-Up
It all has to fit — carefully — into the truck, van, or car. It’s like a game of Tetris before vendors even leave the driveway. 🚗
All of this happens before you’ve even grabbed your morning coffee! So when you stop by the Mineral Point Market, remember that each loaf of bread, bouquet of flowers, and bushel of carrots has already had a journey of its own just to be there.
✨ Join us this Saturday at Water Tower Park from 8:30–11 am and see the results of all that behind-the-scenes hustle — it’s always worth the trip!
See you at the market!

Aaron’s Peppers
A single Brazilian Starfish HOT chile pepper is turning red with the very end (apex) still green. One of my Father’s favorite sayings was “Patience is a virtue not easily acquired.”
Too hot? Too spicy? (continued from 9/6/25)
Not everyone in your “group” enjoys heat and spice as much as you do. Surprise. Surprise.
Thought it may be helpful to share some potential “fixes.”
Note: Not all the suggestions will work in all situations.
If you’ve prepared it, purchased it, or are served it:
1. Add more of the"other" ingredients.
Stir in your ingredients thoroughly and allow the flavors to cook and mingle for at least 10 minutes
2. Add or serve with "full fat" dairy – cheese, crème fraische, ice cream, milk, sour cream, yogurt
3. Add nut or sesame butters BE CAUTIOUS HERE
Major food allergens include: peanuts, sesame, and tree
nuts – almonds, cashews, walnuts
4. Serve with a side of fruit and/or vegetables
5. Sweeten with: agave, honey, maple syrup, sugar
Try using sweet ingredients like carrots or sweet potatoes to balance out the heat
Serve with chocolate or a sugary drink

What a perfect day we had for the Market last week, and this weekend is looking to be even better! Unfortunately, I will not be at the Market to enjoy the weather with you. I will be busy photographing the Mineral Point Car Show, at Soldiers Memorial Park. After you visit the Market, you should stop in and check out all of the great cars, trucks and motorcycles on display! If you need eggs or honey, feel free to contact me, or stop out and check out our self service roadside stand. I will try to keep it stocked with chicken eggs and honey this week and through the weekend. You can also contact me directly to arrange pick up or delivery of eggs or honey.
Thanks,
Mike

Want to try the incredible Reverse Sear method?
Low & Slow: Season steak and place it on a rack in a 250°F oven. Cook until the desired internal temperature is reached (around 115°F for medium-rare).
Rest: Remove the steak and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Sear: While resting, heat a cast iron skillet or grill to high heat. Add a high-heat oil (like avocado oil) and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until a crust forms.
Enjoy! Slice and enjoy a perfectly cooked, juicy steak!
See you Saturday!

Shooting Star Farm
It was cool one last week, and many of my tomato varieties have decided to stop ripening. I will, however, have lots of roma tomatoes. They’re great for salads and sandwiches as well as sauces. Most of my winter squash is still ripening and will need to be cured before it’s ready to sell, but I’ll have a few early varieties available this weekend. Also look for celery, leeks, sprouting broccoli, beets, scallions, limited cherry, red, and heirloom tomatoes, sweet bell and Italian frying peppers, shishito peppers, jalapeno & poblano peppers, an assortment of colorful peppers, lacinato kale, curly kale, green beans, mini lettuce heads, arugula, salad mix, cucumbers, yellow onions, the last of the white onions, basil, parsley, dill, and hopefully those radishes that were too small last week. Should be a beautiful weekend. See you Saturday!
