Hello MP Market Goers!
Cozy Days Call for Comfort Food 🍲 + Fresh Bread
It’s getting chilly outside and nothing warms the soul like a hearty soup, a slow-cooked pot roast, or a toasty casserole. But let’s be honest — these meals just aren’t complete without a really good loaf of bread.🥖
That’s where Café 43 comes in. Each Saturday at the Mineral Point Market, they bring beautiful fresh-baked baguettes and incredible sourdough loaves that are perfect for soaking up broth, serving alongside dinner, or just enjoying with a little butter.
🥐 Feeling more like a treat? Their flaky croissants are some of the best you’ll ever taste.
🌯 Hungry while you shop? Grab one of their egg burritos — savory, filling, and just what you need for a cool Saturday morning at the market.
✨☕ Bonus – they’ve got coffee to keep you warm while you shop!
So bundle up, bring your basket, and stop by the Mineral Point Market this Saturday from 8:30–11am in Water Tower Park. Fill your bag with local goodness, and don’t forget to pick up a loaf (or two!) from Café 43 to complete your comfort meals at home.
See you at the market!

Aaron’s Peppers
There’s been a break-through, of color. A single Brazilian Starfish HOT chile pepper has turned orange. Anxious to find out how long it takes to achieve ripeness – fiery red.
Too hot? Too spicy? (continued from 8/23/25)
Not everyone in your “group” enjoys heat and spice as much as you do. Surprise. Surprise.
Thought it may be helpful to share some potential “fixes.”
Note: Not all the suggestions will work in all situations.
If you’re cooking “from scratch”
Plan ahead and Taste as you cook
5. Use half the amount of hot pepper and double the rest of the ingredients.
6. Use only the very tip of the hot pepper – the end opposite the stem (called the apex).
7. Add the hot pepper “whole” and remove before serving (in a stew for example).
8. Wear gloves. Remove the pith/placenta, ribs/veins, and seeds.
At the top of the pepper is the pith/placenta, where the seeds are attached. The pith/placenta (not the seeds) and the ribs/veins (the soft, lighter color connections inside the pepper) contain 89% of the capsaicin (kap SAY sin). Capsaicin is the compound that makes chile peppers HOT.

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend, I know I did! A little time away from the farm and a day at the fair with the family and perfect weather made for a very enjoyable weekend. Now that the kids are back in school, it’s time to get back to work. I plan on being at the market this weekend with lots of honey, chicken and duck eggs as well as are market tote bags. All of my honey is produced right here on our farm and is raw and unfiltered. Our chicken and ducks are pasture raised and have the run of our farm, and sometimes beyond!
I may even have a new helper with me this weekend. Camden has his own beehive this year and it produced a small crop of honey. He told me he wants to come to the Market this weekend to try to sell it!
Thanks,
Mike

Want to try the incredible Reverse Sear method?
Low & Slow: Season steak and place it on a rack in a 250°F oven. Cook until the desired internal temperature is reached (around 115°F for medium-rare).
Rest: Remove the steak and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Sear: While resting, heat a cast iron skillet or grill to high heat. Add a high-heat oil (like avocado oil) and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until a crust forms.
Enjoy! Slice and enjoy a perfectly cooked, juicy steak!
See you Saturday!
