Hello MP Market Goers!
🍂 Savor the Last of the Season’s Flavors
at the Mineral Point Market 🧄🌶️
As the air turns crisp, we’re holding onto these last few weekends (just 6 markets remaining) with food that celebrates the season. This week, we’re excited to highlight two vendors who bring bold flavor to your table—whether you’re firing up the grill or spicing things up in the kitchen.
✨ Calaur Farm – Argyle WI
A rainy weekend calls for comfort food, and Calaur Farm’s garlic is here to make it shine. Imagine a hearty pot roast, roasted veggies, or warm bread fresh from the oven—all made better with a simple garlic butter.
Georgian Crystal garlic offers a crisp, clean flavor
Chesnok Red garlic brings a spicy kick
Experiment with your favorite seasonings—smoked paprika, rosemary, or thyme could be just the flavor boost your rainy-day meal needs.
🌶️ Aaron’s Peppers (First Market of the Season!)
We’re thrilled to welcome Aaron’s Peppers back for their first market this year! This week they’ll be bringing the stunning Brazilian Starfish peppers—a rare variety known for its fiery red color, unique star-like shape, and bold heat. These beauties have been nurtured through cool mornings and summer heat alike, and they’re finally ready to make their market debut. Don’t miss your chance to try something new and exciting!
Come out this Saturday to stock up on garlic, peppers, and all the other fresh, local flavors our vendors are bringing to market. It’s a delicious way to savor the season. 🧄🌶️🥩🥖🍅🧅🍪🍯🥚🧀
See you at the market!

Aaron’s Peppers
Starting to notice what, on a human, would be called bruising.
On the Brazilian Starfish pepper, the purple (some say brown) is an outward sign that ripening is speeding up. On 9/9, took some flagging tape and wrote down how much orange was showing on the peppers and tied it loosely to “the 7” with a range of 10% to 90% (orange). The goal was to “track” how long it took before turning their ripe fiery red. Two are currently (9/12) FIERY RED.
Protecting the plants with old sheets whenever the temperature here was predicted to be 50 o or below really paid off. (There were at least 2 mornings when there was frost on the fabric.) And the recent high, summer-like temperatures have helped them thrive as well.
So it looks like there will be Brazilian Starfish peppers at the market this week. Looking forward to “showing them off.” Believe you’ll appreciate the color, unique shape, and flavor of this rare variety of HOT pepper.

We are thinking some fresh salad, nicely seared steaks, crusty bread, and why not make your own garlic butter: Calaur Farm’s Georgian Crystal will give you a crisp and clean garlic flavor, while Chesnok Red will set you off with a spicy kick. Experiment with different spices, smoked paprika might just be the perfect match. We look forward to seeing you Saturday!
Farmer’s Daughter Bakery and Kitchen
Hey there market friends! It stinks being sick when the weather is so nice! Boy that cold bug hangs on! But I’m feeling much better, so come on out and see what all we have on our tables this weekend. I do know we will have scones, muffins, dessert bars and treats and sweet rolls; but just what flavor combinations is anyone’s guess! Maybe I’ll enlist Brian to help me decide. It sounds as though he may have a little time off this week from chopping with the crew. Truth be told, if he had to choose each week, I’d be making apple pie, brownies and chocolate chip cookies. He’s a very simple eater, and that is OK! We hope to see you all out and about this weekend! Please place any pre-orders by Noon on Friday! Check out our Facebook page for the happenings on the farm and more!
If you’d like to pre-order, feel free to email us at farmgalsbake@yahoo.com; text or call us at 608-214-3475; or message us from our Facebook page.

Wow, what a beautiful weekend we had last week. I sure hope the weather holds for this weekend. I am planning on being at the market this weekend with our farm fresh, pasture raised chicken and duck eggs. I should be well stocked for the market, but always best to come early to make sure we have what you need. I was busy last week bottling honey and will be fully stocked with raw honey ranging from small 1/2 pound jars all the way up to quart jars. This week I will also have plastic squeeze bears of honey. All of my honey is produced right on our little farm, just 2 miles from town. Hope to see you on Saturday! If you can’t make it to the market, check out our little self service farm stand during the week for honey and eggs! Our stand is located at 4400 Hwy 39.
Thanks,
Mike

Rockin’ Highlands
👋 Hi Mineral Point Market friends!
Rockin’ Highlands Farm has what’s needed this Saturday!
Whether planning a late summer BBQ or stocking up for delicious meals, the perfect cuts are available. Come and chat with us about what makes Rockin’ Highlands Farm’s Scottish Highland beef special.
Here’s a bonus:
Want to try the incredible Reverse Sear method?
Low & Slow: Season steak and place it on a rack in a 250°F oven. Cook until the desired internal temperature is reached (around 115°F for medium-rare).
Rest: Remove the steak and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Sear: While resting, heat a cast iron skillet or grill to high heat. Add a high-heat oil (like avocado oil) and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until a crust forms.
Enjoy! Slice and enjoy a perfectly cooked, juicy steak!
See you Saturday!

We won’t be at the market this week and our time there is most likely wrapped up for the season. 🌸 There’s a slim chance we could make one last appearance at the end of September, but it will depend on the weather and what Mother Nature has in store. Thank you all for such a wonderful season! 💐 We still have a small number of blooms available until the first frost for any special request bouquets. Stay connected with us on our Facebook page.

Shooting Star Farm
The last of the outdoor salad greens and spinach have just been planted and frantically watered. It’s hard to believe that our growing season is coming to an end when the temperatures are giving us July vibes. It’s been awfully warm for mid-September, but the work continues. For this Saturday, these are the items I hope to harvest: cauliflower (the delicious “green stem” variety), sprouting broccoli, kossack kohlrabi (the big ones), leeks, lettuces, salad greens, arugula, roma tomatoes, cherry and heirloom tomatoes (limited), red tomatoes (very limited), bell and Italian frying peppers (lots!), various red/orange/yellow peppers, celery, kale, dill, sage, cilantro (possibly), delicata and kabocha winter squash, basil, yellow onions, white onions, and possibly radishes. See you Saturday!
Sugarface Donuts
Come and see Sugarface Donuts back at the market October 4th! Share a bag of our classic, warm cinnamon sugar donuts or a boat of plain donuts with chocolate or strawberry icing dippers.
