Open Saturday, May 16th, 8:30-11am in Water Tower Park

Hello MP Market Goers!

If this chilly May has felt long to you, just imagine how our farmers are feeling. 🌱

While everyone is eager for the abundance of summer, Mother Nature has had other plans this spring. Cold nights, frost warnings, and stubbornly low temperatures have slowed growing in the fields — and in some cases, stopped it completely. (We’re looking at you, asparagus!)

But behind the scenes, our vendors have been working incredibly hard to protect and nurture the crops and flowers they hope to bring to market for you this season. From irrigating strawberries overnight to protect delicate blossoms from frost, to tucking vulnerable vegetables and flowers beneath row cover each evening, spring farming has meant long days and even longer nights lately.

Still, our growers are nothing if not resilient. 💛

And despite the challenges, new things are arriving at market each week:
🥬 Shooting Star Farm will have baby heads of lettuce along with larger romaine, butter, and red leaf lettuces.
🌱 Bures Berry Patch expects to finally harvest a bit of asparagus now that the frost has passed.
🌸 Rural Roots Flower Farm has been carefully protecting their ranunculus, and those beautiful blooms should be making bouquet appearances in another week or two.

So when you shop the market this spring, know that every bunch, basket, and bouquet represents patience, perseverance, and a whole lot of hard work.

Thank you for supporting the people who continue showing up for our community — no matter what the weather throws their way.

Bures Berry Patch
Oh my goodness, it’s been so cold this spring!!! The asparagus is finally growing, but until we get some 70+ degree days and 50+ degree nights we’ll continue to have small quantities🥲. Hopefully, this next week will be the warmup they’re predicting 🤞🏼. The strawberries need some heat too!😉
👉 This week at market we’ll have:
🥕Asparagus & Rhubarb — the first tasty treats from the Patch
🥚 Farm-Fresh Eggs — perfect for baking, brunching, and hosting
🍯 Pure Local Honey — drizzle it on cheese boards, use in recipes, or add a bit to your tea
🥒 Dilly Beans — the easiest (and tastiest!) snack to bring to parties
Can’t make it to market? We’re open daily, 9 AM–6 PM, self-serve style — just drive right up to the house garage and help yourself. Cash/check welcomed, and you’ll find everything neatly stocked and ready for your enjoyment.🌷🌞💛

It looks to be a perfect day for another Market this weekend! Holden and I will be back with lots of farm fresh chicken and duck eggs. Along with the eggs, I will have the remainder of last years honey harvest. I am currently out of the 1 pound and larger sizes, but have quite a few smaller jars and squeeze bottles available. If you need honey, now is the time to stock up! Once my current inventory is gone, I won’t have any honey available until I harvest again in July or August!
Thanks,

Shooting Star Farm
The weather ups and downs (mostly downs this last week) have slowed growth on some items, but I will have a bit more variety on my table this weekend. In addition to gorgeous arugula and salad mix, I’ll be harvesting mini lettuce heads as well as some larger romaine, butter, and red leaf lettuces. I should continue to have bok choy, salad turnips, chard, red and French radishes, curly kale, and maybe even some green garlic. I’m crossing my fingers that the first beets size up by Friday, but it’s still a bit iffy at this point. No spinach this week, but more will be ready for Memorial weekend. I’ll also bring a selection of tomato and pepper transplants. If you’d like to see what’s available this year, visit my website. Click the button to view plant descriptions. You can also scroll down and reserve plants for pickup at the Market or farm on a Saturday that you select. With summer-like temps coming this weekend, it’ll be a great day to get some coffee and linger a while in the park. See you Saturday!

Sugarface Donuts
We loved the market last Saturday! Thanks so much for coming out in the chilly weather!!!! We’ll be back for Father’s Day weekend on June 20th.

WWB Studio
Wayne Banaszak taught drawing and painting and graphic design to students grade one through adults in the public schools for over thirty years. He is now sharing his artistic talents through his original watercolor pencil drawings of rural scenes from the Driftless Area of Wisconsin as well as various other subjects that complement his style of drawing. Many of the original drawings have been turned into note cards which he markets locally. New to his note card collection is a line of interesting sayings and words of wisdom. All of these will be on display at the market. It is his intention to attend all Saturday markets weather permitting. Rain and paper do not get along, so he will not be in attendance on rainy, humid days.

We look forward to seeing you Saturday in Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.
