Aaron’s Peppers

Aaron’s Peppers last appearance at the Mineral Point Market for the season was October 7. Wanted to share with you a new resource to explore. The Official Cookbook of the Chile Pepper Institute published March 15, 2023 features unique recipes developed at New Mexico State University, based on chile peppers grown at the CPI* Teaching Garden (the world’s only garden dedicated to chile peppers). The recipes were all created and selected based on each chile pepper’s location; traditional uses; country of origin; exploration of species and varieties; and different ways peppers can be prepared. *Chile Pepper Institute

Just Poured Candle Co.

Hope to be back next season, thanks for a great year!  My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates. In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug & tick repellent, and lip balm.

Laxey Creek Sheep Ranch has finished the market season. We thank all of you for supporting us during our first market season!
* We are taking orders for half and whole lambs – $7.90/lb hanging weight, which is about $100 savings compared to buying the same quantity of our retail cuts.
* We will continue selling grass-fed lamb brats, grass-fed beef, honey, and raw wool from our farm by appointment.
* Our animals are grass-fed and grass-finished, which they graze lush pastures all summer and high quality stored forage in the winter. They live in a low-stress environment with livestock guardian dogs who keep predators away, and see the shepherd every day when he makes the rounds to check that they are still on prime pasture.

It’s going to be another busy weekend for me so I will not be attending the market on Saturday. I do still have honey available at the farm (4400 Hwy 39) as well as my photo greeting cards. We usually have a couple dozen fresh eggs available as well, but the cooler weather has slowed our hens down a bit. If you would like honey, eggs, or cards, please let me know. I’m usually home during the day, but please set up time to stop out to make sure I’m available.
Thanks,
Mike

Preston Creek Soapery – Julia Sheppard – Mineral Point

Hope to be back next season, thanks for a great year! Preston Creek Soapery was founded in 2017 when I started to make handmade soap as a way to funnel my creative energy and calm my sensitive skin. I really enjoy formulating and making small batch vegan soap and shampoo bars, which progressed into making bath and foot soaks, bath bombs, whipped body butter and soap dishes. From day one on my soaping journey, as a vegetarian I chose to make vegan, palm free products. I use high quality skin loving ingredients such as oils, butters, coconut milk, clays, colloidal oatmeal and aloe. I live in Mineral Point with my husband Jeremy on our alpaca farm. Breeding and raising alpacas is a complete joy! In the future I hope to bring my alpaca yarn to the market.

Shooting Star Farm

Last Saturday was a rainy one, but many of you braved the wet and visited the Market. Thank you so much! This Saturday looks to be far more pleasant, and although I got another frost Tuesday morning, most of my remaining crops are still just fine. Here’s what I plan to bring this week: red radishes, salad turnips, beets, carrots (orange, red, and yellow), winter squash (delicata, honeynut, butternut, and sunshine kabocha), scallions, leeks, Swiss chard, bell peppers and frying peppers of various colors (still frost-free!), a few hot peppers, red onions, yellow onions, shallots, arugula, salad mix, spinach, sprouting broccoli, red cabbage, green cabbage, parsley, dill thyme, sage, and we’ll see what else we can glean from the fields. This is the last “official” market, but we’ll continue outdoors as long as product is available and vendors are interested. You can pre-order for market pick-up at my website.

Sweet Earth Garden and Vintage China

Dear Market friends, Sweet Earth Gardens will not be at market this week.

It is a lovely group of folks who are dedicated to offering quality goods and foods. A special thanks to Lois, Kathy and Jenny for their hard work and excellent leadership. Our market would not exist without you. Thank you for all the support and encouragement- I hope I returned the favor as I was always so proud to be a part of this special market.
Farewell and warmest wishes to you all…. I will be back as a customer and will miss our Saturday mornings together.
My best wishes,
Barbara Manion-Platt
