It’s aronia season and our new-ish vendor, Barham Gardens will have them this week at market!

What is Aronia?
Unlike the majority of popular super fruits (think acai and pomegranate), this berry is native to North America. Sometimes referred to as “chokeberry,” these deep black-ish purple berries look similar to blueberries but have a much more sharp and sour flavor.

Health Benefits
Brimming with anthocyanins, these little berries are getting attention in part because of their outstanding antioxidant content. While more research is needed, there’s some evidence that ties aronia to lower cholesterol, cancer suppression and better management of diabetes. – Food Network – White, Dana Angelo

Barham Gardens

It’s aronia season! We’ll have fresh berries this Saturday at market! My husband, Kim, and I currently grow Aronia (chokeberries) on an acre plot. We are enthusiastic about this native berry which is a valuable early season food for bees, and once mature (late August through early September), they are good for humans as well, containing numerous health benefits. (We will have brochures at the market with more detailed information and starter recipes.) Roberta uses them in Aronia Applesauce and Aronia Rhubarb jam (which is very delicious) which she will vend at the market while quantities last. Recipe books are also available. More information can be found at our website.
Additionally, Roberta hand weaves rag and fleece rugs and weavings, saving much from entering the waste stream and allowing another functional and practical life. More information about these products can be found here. She also fashions felted accessories.

Just Poured Candle Co.

We’re back Saturday, September 9th! My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates. In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug & tick repellent, and lip balm.
Mineral Point Market Dates: June 10th , July 8th , August 12th , & September 9th

King’s Hill Farm

King’s Hill will be at market this weekend!
We anticipate being there with tomatoes, garlic, onions, beans, green cabbage, carrots, leeks, lavender, rosemary, thyme, bok choy, kale, and chard.
We’re a little short-staffed this week, so there is a possibility we won’t get all this harvested in time for market between our CSA deliveries, but we’ll do our best!
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!  Best, Julia & Matt

Magic Light Photography

Hi Everyone, I hope you have all had a nice summer. Hard to believe it’s almost time for the fair and the kids will be heading back to school soon. I have been busy in my bee yard managing and growing my apiary this summer and as a result I will have honey available at the market this week! My honey is raw, never heated and is not filtered so all of the good stuff is still in there. I will have half and one pound jars available, as well as pint (aprox. 1.4 lbs) and quart jars (aprox 2.8 lbs). If the forecast stays dry, I will also have my photo greeting cards available. I may also have a small amount of my homemade maple syrup. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday morning! Mike
Thanks,
Mike

Preston Creek Soapery – Julia Sheppard – Mineral Point

I’m back again August 26th! Preston Creek Soapery was founded in 2017 when I started to make handmade soap as a way to funnel my creative energy and calm my sensitive skin. I really enjoy formulating and making small batch vegan soap and shampoo bars, which progressed into making bath and foot soaks, bath bombs, whipped body butter and soap dishes. From day one on my soaping journey, as a vegetarian I chose to make vegan, palm free products. I use high quality skin loving ingredients such as oils, butters, coconut milk, clays, colloidal oatmeal and aloe. I live in Mineral Point with my husband Jeremy on our alpaca farm. Breeding and raising alpacas is a complete joy! In the future I hope to bring my alpaca yarn to the market. I’m so excited to meet you all on the following Saturday mornings: June 24th, July 22nd, August 26th, September 23rd and October 7th.
