Calaur Farm
Our garlic is cured and ready for you! Calaur Farm hopes to see you Saturday with our mix of hardneck garlic, starting with our main varieties of Music and German Extra Hardy.
On our small family farm, we are still in the early years of growing certified organic hardneck garlic. We are having so much fun experimenting with new heirloom varieties and see how they respond to our soil and climate. Compared to most supermarket garlic, which tends to be softneck varieties, hardneck garlic has a central flowering stalk called a scape and produces fewer but larger bulbs. These varieties produce a more complex flavor, ranging from mild and sweet to lingering heat. They are also more suitable for growing in northern climates, where we plant early October and harvest in July.
This year we added two new Creole varieties, the spicy Metechi and the sweet Italian Aglio Rosso di Sulmona. If you are interested in a bulk order, find us at the market or text (608-778-8895) or email us any time.

Saving Grace Cat Rescue will be present to share information about our rescue efforts and to collect donations. We will also have t-shirts and art for sale to raise money for our non profit. Hope to see you Saturday!

Shooting Star Farm
It’s been an awfully warm fall for Markets this year, and Saturday looks to be pleasant – if a bit more seasonal. I am really running low of veggies this year, but should still have a decent selection for our last Market. Salad mix and arugula will be in short supply, but I will have lettuces of mixed sizes and colors. Also, the last of the peppers that escaped the freeze, and a handful of tomatoes from the hoophouse (most were damaged, but some were hidden under foliage are fine). I’ll also have kale, Tokyo bekana (a Chinese cabbage), some broccoli shoots, green cabbage, Kossak kohlrabi, leeks, celery, lots of honeynut, butternut, and autumn frost winter squash, the last of the yellow onions, radishes, salad turnips, a few carrots, and anything else I can scrounge up! See you Saturday!
