Hello MP Market Goers!
In a world where convenience often takes precedence, it’s easy to overlook the benefits of choosing local meat products. But if you care about quality, sustainability, and supporting your community, there are compelling reasons to make the switch to local. Here’s why your next meal could—and should—be local.
1. Freshness You Can Taste
Local meat is often fresher than its mass-produced counterparts. Since it doesn’t travel long distances, it spends less time in transit and more time at peak freshness. This means your meals will taste better and be more nutritious.
2. Supporting Your Community
Local farms are often family-run and depend on your support to thrive. By choosing local, you’re helping to keep money in your community, supporting local jobs, and fostering a resilient local economy.
3. Sustainable Practices
Local farms are more likely to focus on humane treatment of animals and environmentally friendly farming techniques. This means less pollution, reduced carbon footprints, and a healthier planet for future generations.
4. Know Your Source
When you choose local, you have a direct line to your food source. Many local farmers are eager to share information about their practices and the care they put into their products. This transparency allows you to make informed decisions about what you’re eating.
5. Reduced Environmental Impact
Transporting meat over long distances contributes to significant carbon emissions. By opting for local products, you’re reducing the environmental impact associated with long-haul transportation. Plus, local farms often use less packaging, further reducing waste.
Make the Change
Stop up Saturday morning to visit Marr’s Valley View Farm as well as PJ’s Poultry (both located under the Pavilion). Your taste buds, community, and planet will thank you.

Driftless Farms
We’re back again this Saturday!
8-Generations Strong! Driftless Farms LLC is a local, family-owned business specializing in the production of 100% pure, certified organic maple syrup known as Driftless Gold. From sap collection to syrup production to marketing and distribution, family members are directly involved in every step of the process. Our goal is to deliver reliably high-quality syrup to our customers while enhancing and deepening our children’s connection to our 8‑generation family farm in the heart of the Driftless Region. Our family actively manages for a diverse and healthy forest community. At Driftless Farms, we are proud to continue the legacy of land stewardship passed down by our pioneering ancestors.
Our Grade A certified organic maple syrup is available in three grades: Amber Rich, Dark Robust, and Very Dark Strong. Richly flavored Amber Rich offers a sweet, rich taste and serves well as a delectable topping; think oatmeal, Greek yogurt, and ice cream. Dark Robust is known for its full-bodied flavor. This flavorsome favorite is lovely on pancakes, in coffee as a sweetener, and is fantastic as a glaze. Let’s not forget our Very Dark Strong option. This product boasts being the strongest of the maple flavors; a shining favorite when used as an ingredient in baked goods, granola, and so much more. Here at Driftless Farm we believe our customers should be able to consistently choose their favorite of the flavors.

Just Poured Candle Co.
My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates.
In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug and tick repellent, and lip balm.
I’ll be at market August 3 & September 7

Our Homestead formerly Magic Light Photography
Wow, I can’t believe it’s August already! Where has the summer gone? We have had lots of visitors to Our Homestead this week to see and photograph our sunflower field. It’s worth the short drive to see and you are welcome to stop and take some photos! We are just 2 miles east of town right on Highway 39, going towards Hollandale. The forecast looks great for the weekend and I’m looking forward to being back at the market with our farm fresh, pasture raised chicken and duck eggs. I will also have some of our upcycled feed bag totes that are perfect for filling up with goodies at the market. The bees are starting to slow down and I’m preparing to start harvesting honey. Depending on how the rest of the week goes, I may have raw, local honey available this week! If not, I should have it ready for the following week. Hope to see you Saturday morning.
Thanks,
Mike

Shooting Star Farm
It’s August! How did that happen? High summer season means lots of produce variety. This week I’ll have green beans, bunched carrots, bunched and bulk beets, tomatoes (red, heirloom, mixed cherry, and salad types), fennel, cabbage (a cone-shaped tasty variety), sweet bell and Italian frying peppers, shishito peppers, jalapeno peppers, the first colorful peppers, eggplant (3 types), Swiss chard, curly kale, lacinato kale, white onions and possibly Italian bottle onions, scallions, zucchini (just a bit), and an assortment of herbs. I will have some lettuce heads and possibly arugula, but not much of either. Salad mix is still questionable given my lack of lettuce right now. Maybe a few other odds and ends. See you Saturday!
