August 22nd – Week 17

Scroll down to see individual vendor product offering and pre-order instructions for this week’s market

There’s just a few more weeks of summer. So while market still has great fresh items like tomatoes, sweet corn, and green beans they won’t be around for too much longer so be sure to stock up.

There’s just 9 weeks of our outdoor market season left. And while that seems like a long time, winter is coming. A great way to make sure you have delicious food all winter long is to buy a little extra each week and sock it away in your freezer. There are so many things at market that can be preserved for eating in the winter. Sweet corn, tomatoes, bread, meats can all be easily preserved for tasty eating this winter. When buying products, ask your vendor if they have a good way to preserve your favorite products. More than likely, they’ve found an incredible way to preserve them. Here’s Bures’ favorite way to preserve sweet corn.

If you are planning to make a large purchase for preserving, all of our vendors offer the option to pre-order so that we can guarantee you’ll have delicious products ready for pickup at market Saturday morning.

With covid concerns continuing, please know that our vendors are doing their best to keep you and yours safe while attending market. Check out our covid safety measures to learn more. Don’t feel comfortable shopping the market? Many of our vendors offer the option to pre-order for curbside pickup. Scroll down to find vendor specific instructions for pre-ordering.

This market will stay a safe and healthy place to shop if we all take measures to protect each other.  Remember, we’re producing for you and we’re in this together!

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:
Beef, Steaks, Pork, Bacon, Poultry, Cheese, Eggs, Tomatoes of every size shape and color, Onions, Green Beans, Peppers, Salad Mix, Arugula, Lettuce, Beets, Fennel, Carrots, Kale, Celery, Chard, Eggplant, Dill, Oregano, Basil, Cucumbers, Zucchini/Summer Squash, Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Honey, Sweet Bread, Scones, Muffins, Cupcakes, Cookies, Bars, Pies, Artisan Bread, Coffee, Lemonade, Kombucha, Breakfast Burritos, Pickles, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods, Custom Wood Accessories, Fresh Cut Flowers, and much more. Shooting Star Farm
Hot and dry out here on the farm. But I’m not complaining. A dry August makes for a good tomato crop. And hopefully all you new and seasoned home gardeners are experiencing the same. My first crop of paste/roma tomatoes is nearly finished, but a different, longer-season variety is coming in now. If you’d like to order a 20lb box of romas, please order on my website here, or stop by the Market and I may have extras. Red slicing tomatoes in 20lb quantities will be available for ordering soon. I’m currently filling some early requests, but will have them available for ordering next week. On to the other veggies. This week I hope to have salad mix, arugula, a very limited supply of head lettuce (between crops), red and multi-color beets, fennel, bunched carrots (small crop but more coming soon), green beans, kale, celery, chard, a bit of eggplant, lots of sweet bell peppers, Italian frying peppers, jalapeno and fresno hot peppers, dill, oregano, basil, a few cucumbers (I hope – late season planting coming along soon…), some larger zucchini/summer squash, onions, possibly the first leeks, and cherry, heirloom, red, and roma tomatoes. If you want to pre-order for market pick-up, visit www.shootingstarfarmwi.com and click on the “pre-order” tab. Ordering is open Wednesday 6pm-Thursday 7pm. See you Saturday!

Sunny Side Down
Sunny Side Down will be back at markets this weekend! We are bringing back all our bread varieties and highly recommend pre-ordering for bread and pies as these sell out fast at the market!
