Hello MP Market Goers!
Celebrating our independence means so much more this year. We’ve gone over a year with little interaction, few celebrations, and rare gatherings. Finally, we are starting to come together once again with family and friends. What are your plans for this year’s 4th of July celebration? And what will be going on your grill? At market this week, we’ve got lots of great items to help you celebrate! From brats and steaks to chicken and veggie options; the cookin’s bound to be delicious! Here’s 4 easy ways to grill up some potatoes this weekend.
While you’re at market Saturday stop by and wish Joni in the red tent a Happy Birthday, there might just be a special surprise!
Here’s a list of Mineral Point activities scheduled for this weekend:
July 3: Summer Movie “Captain America” at Mineral Point Opera House, 7 p.m.
July 4: Gettin’ The Lead Out 2-mile or 5-mile run, 8 a.m. at Soldiers Memorial Park (registration at 7 a.m.)
July 4: 4th of July Parade, 11 a.m. on High Street (line-up at 10 a.m.)
July 4: Steak Sandwich Lunch at Water Tower Park, noon
July 4: Kiwanis Pie & Ice Cream Social at Soldier Memorial Park, 6 p.m. City Band Concert at 7 p.m.
July 4: Mineral Point Fireworks at dusk
This week at market Daniel Nordstrom will be on guitar in the park while you shop! Do you know someone who’s a musician? We’d love to get more music back to the market! Do you have a group of kids doing a fundraiser? We’d love to have them up in the park as well! Contact us at mineralpointmarket@gmail.com at least 1 week prior to learn more.

We’re getting into summer at the Patch! We’re back this week with new, red potatoes, maybe some green beans (fingers crossed) as well as eggs, honey, and JAM! Yes jam! We now have strawberry, strawberry rhubarb, and raspberry peach jam available! In just another couple of weeks our sweet corn will be ready, yum! Man, oh man! We’re already into JULY!! The summer is flying by is seems! Order up your cookout desserts for this weekend – don’t heat up your kitchen! You’re going to be grilling out, yes? Let us heat up our kitchen for you! Last year, with the July 4th holiday falling on Saturday, we had our dessert bar special, and our Grazing Trays. Well… We’re having them again! $35 – your pick of 6 dozen snack size dessert bars, packaged in a no-mess, no-cleanup, table ready pan. Want all of 1 flavor? Done. Want 3? Yup, we got you there, too. You can choose up to 6! All of these dessert bars will be available table side for individual full size purchase as well. Here is the list for this week’s Bars and Treats: Oatmeal Fudge, Carmelitas, Orange Brownies, S’mores, Maple Pecan, Lemon Bars, Mint Brownies, Raspberry Patch, Oreo Brownies, Apricot Citrus, Peanut Butter Bars, Chocolate Toffee.
In addition to the Bars and Treats list, we will have our usual run of items as well. Here are the additional items:
Scones: Maple Butter, Bacon Apricot, Lemon Blueberry, Cheddar Onion Dill.
Muffins: Banana Chocolate Chip, Lemon Blueberry, PB & J (my new favorite!)
Sweet Rolls: Cinnamon, Strawberry

For pie this week, we will be offering Apple, Strawberry Rhubarb, Peach Blueberry and Cherry Raspberry.

We’re thankful for the amount of rain we received recently. Now looking forward to nice weather for Market and July 4th celebrations this weekend. As Beef producers, we are looking forward to ‘July Beef Month’ in Wisconsin. Time to begin planning your menu for those July 4th neighborhood cookouts and family camping trips to one of our beautiful parks or lakes in the area. Place your order early to ensure availability.

Mineral Point is the place to be this July 4th weekend, start the weekend off right with a visit to
Mineral Point Market Saturday morning. This is my birthday weekend and I am celebrating
by giving away a free magnetic bookmark to everyone who stops by my booth. While you
are there check out my selection of paper products; cards for all occasions, covered journals,
book marks, gift card holders, etc. Sending a handmade card is a great way to say “I care”.

Shooting Star Farm
The holiday weekend looks to be beautiful. On the fourth I’ll be enjoying the parade, lunch in the park, and eating pie while being entertained by the city band. If you plan to “Get the Lead Out” on Sunday morning, fuel up on Saturday with some great food from the Market. You can preorder for Market pick-up by visiting the order page on my website. Here’s what I hope to have on the table: Salad mix, various lettuce heads, green cabbage, Kossak kohlrabi (the large ones), Swiss chard, kale, scallions, zucchini and summer squash, carrots, red beets, multi-color beets (orange, pink, white, and red), scallions, basil, dill, cilantro, parsley, possibly a few smaller sweet peppers and cucumbers. No arugula this week, but hopefully next. See you Saturday! If you’d like to pre-order for Market pickup, you can do so here until 7pm Thursday night. See you Saturday!
