Just Poured Candle Co.
My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates.
In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug and tick repellent, and lip balm.
I’ll be at market again on September 7th

I don’t know about you, but I have really been enjoying the cooler, fall-like, weather! I am planning on being at the market again this weekend with my local, raw unfiltered honey, harvested right here on our little farm. I will also have farm fresh eggs from our pasture-raised hens, and maybe a dozen duck eggs if we can find where they are hiding them! The weather didn’t cooperate for me last week so I wasn’t able to bring my observation hive to the market, but I’m going to try again this week. I’m also working on something new from the bee hives, but I’m not sure it will be ready for this weekend so I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet. Speaking of bags, I will also have some of our up-cycled shopping totes, made from feed bags. Hope to see you Saturday!
Thanks,
Mike

Shooting Star Farm
Many of you may have noticed my tiny supply of cucumbers, zucchini, and basil this summer. It’s been a fine year for plenty of crops, but these three have been a struggle. The cucurbits (cucumbers & zucchini) have succumbed early and often to diseases transmitted by cucumber beetles and leaf hoppers. These little buggers usually migrate up north and arrive sometime in late June to July, but due to our non-existent winter, I think they never left. They showed up just as my plants were getting uncovered to pollinate. The beetles disappeared for a time, so if had I planted a bit later (or earlier), I may have had some success. But alas… Basil is a fluke. The crop has been nearly wiped out early by disease. I rarely struggle with basil, and I got a little lax this year about not mulching and adding too much overhead water. Live and learn. Gardening is rewarding and humbling. After all these years there’s still plenty to learn. What I will have lots of are tomatoes – especially heirloom tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. Romas are also starting to fill buckets and should be in good supply now through September. My later crop of red slicers are maddeningly slow to come along, but I will have a enough for Market (just not case quantities). Also look for gorgeous red and orange sweet Italian peppers, mini snacking peppers, bell peppers, poblano and jalapeno peppers, eggplant, fennel, cabbage, bottle onions, white onions, kale, green beans, beets, arugula, salad mix, zucchini (not a lot), mini lettuce heads, Swiss chard, cilantro, dill, parsley, sage, oregano, and thyme. See you Saturday!
