Aaron’s Peppers
Featuring: Fresh from the garden Aaron’s pick for 2024
The Bulgarian Carrot Pepper (an heirloom, meaning that you can save the seeds)
Heat profile: up to 30,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units)
and Bulgarian Carrot HOT Pepper “Jelly” In quotes because, by definition, it’s really a jam.
Ingredients: sugar, Bulgarian Carrot peppers, apple cider vinegar, SureJell.
What is this Scoville Heat Unit?
In the early 1900’s, Wilbur Scoville (a pharmacist) developed a method of finding out how hot a pepper was. It involved five people taste-testing a solution that was diluted until they could no longer perceive the heat of capsaicin* (kap SAY sin).
Today, an accurate technique called high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is used. The heat level is expressed as Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
* Capsaicin is the compound that makes chile peppers hot.
You don’t have to wait ‘til Small Business Saturday (the Saturday after Thanksgiving); just come to the Market Saturdays 8:30-11:00 a.m. at Water Tower Park (Business 151 at Madison St.)!

Saturday and Sundays from 10-5pm you can come out to the Patch and pick your own pumpkins, take a stroll around the farm, say “hi” to and feed the chickens, get lost in the corn maze, and let the kids take a ride on the tire swing! Just want to grab some beautiful pumpkins and gourds? The Farm Store is also open Monday-Friday 9-6 pm self-serve (no activities).  At the Patch you can find our Newly Dug Potatoes, Honey, Dilly Beans, and some Eggs. Calaur Farm
Our garlic is cured and ready for you! Calaur Farm hopes to see you Saturday with our mix of hardneck garlic, starting with our main varieties of Music and German Extra Hardy.
On our small family farm, we are still in the early years of growing certified organic hardneck garlic. We are having so much fun experimenting with new heirloom varieties and see how they respond to our soil and climate. Compared to most supermarket garlic, which tends to be softneck varieties, hardneck garlic has a central flowering stalk called a scape and produces fewer but larger bulbs. These varieties produce a more complex flavor, ranging from mild and sweet to lingering heat. They are also more suitable for growing in northern climates, where we plant early October and harvest in July.
This year we added two new Creole varieties, the spicy Metechi and the sweet Italian Aglio Rosso di Sulmona. If you are interested in a bulk order, find us at the market or text (608-778-8895) or email us any time.

The Cornish Baker

Farmer’s Daughter Bakery and Kitchen
Hey all market friends!
Corn silage is just about done, and the goats have been busy! We’re up to 14 babies with only 2 ladies left to kid in this fall group. They are already crawling out the panels, getting into things they shouldn’t, and just being too darn cute for their own good!
Come on out and enjoy the weather this weekend and some great eats from our tables! Here’s what we’ll have to offer:
Scones: cheddar onion dill, sausage pepper, apple cinnamon, berry.
Muffins: banana chocolate chip, lemon berry, apple crisp.
Bars and Treats: lemon bars, orange brownies, apple coffeecake, peanut butter bars.
Sweet Rolls: cinnamon, orange cream, candy apple.
We may have some apple cider donuts depending if time allows. We hope to see you all this weekend!
Remember to pre-order by Noon on Friday! You can place your order on Facebook and send us a message, send us an email at farmgalsbake@yahoo.com or send us a text message at 608-214-3475. And for goat updates, be sure to check out our Facebook page! See you soon!

Just Poured Candle Co.
My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates.
In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug and tick repellent, and lip balm.

Happy Fall everyone! I don’t know about you, but I love this cooler weather! It was great to be back at the market last week, and I plan on being there again this weekend! I may even bring a helper with me this week. The hens are slowing down, and we have had a few egg sales at the farm, so supplies will be limited at the market again this week. Shop early if you are looking for eggs this week. I will also have raw, local honey as well as beeswax candles and bulk beeswax for your own projects. I will also have a few of our shopping totes made from recycled feed bags to help you carry all of your market purchases! I hope to see you Saturday morning.
Thanks,
Mike
