Open Saturday, Sept. 14th, 8:30-11am in Water Tower Park

Hello MP Market Goers!

Discover the extraordinary flavor and culinary magic of hardneck garlic at market! Unlike its softer counterpart, hardneck garlic boasts a robust and complex taste that elevates any dish to new heights. Its distinctive, spicy kick and larger, fewer cloves make it the perfect choice for those who seek depth and character in their cooking.

Calaur Farm joyfully experiments with growing certified organic hardneck garlic, exploring heirloom varieties to see how they thrive in their soil and climate. They plant these varieties in early October and begin the harvest in July. After which, the garlic is cured and prepared for market.

Some of the varieties they grow include: Music, German Extra Hardy, Metechi, and the sweet Italian Aglio Rosso di Sulmona.

Visit the Mineral Point Market Saturday and bring home garlic that will transform your meals into unforgettable culinary experiences!

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:

Beef, Pork, Bacon, Brats, Chicken, Lamb, Eggs, Cheese, Honey, Maple Syrup, Artisan Breads, Coffee, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods, Breakfast Burritos, Garlic, Tomatoes of every size & color, sweet & spicy Peppers, Endive, Spinach, Radishes, Cauliflower, Kale, Beets, Onions, Leeks, Arugula, Salad Mix, Lettuce Heads, Zucchini, Tomatillos, Cabbage, Parsley, Dill, Sage, Thyme, Oregano, Pickles, Fresh Cut Flowers, Houseplants, Mums, Watercolor Drawings & Notecards, Rugs & Sheepskin Weavings, Quilted Tote Bags & Stickers, and much more. Calaur Farm
Our garlic is cured and ready for you! Calaur Farm hopes to see you Saturday with our mix of hardneck garlic, starting with our main varieties of Music and German Extra Hardy.
On our small family farm, we are still in the early years of growing certified organic hardneck garlic. We are having so much fun experimenting with new heirloom varieties and see how they respond to our soil and climate. Compared to most supermarket garlic, which tends to be softneck varieties, hardneck garlic has a central flowering stalk called a scape and produces fewer but larger bulbs. These varieties produce a more complex flavor, ranging from mild and sweet to lingering heat. They are also more suitable for growing in northern climates, where we plant early October and harvest in July.
This year we added two new Creole varieties, the spicy Metechi and the sweet Italian Aglio Rosso di Sulmona. If you are interested in a bulk order, find us at the market or text (608-778-8895) or email us any time.

Just Poured Candle Co.
My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates.
In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug and tick repellent, and lip balm.

Shooting Star Farm
It’s been lovely weather recently, but heavy dew in the morning and the lower angle of the sun are signs of the changing seasons. My winter squash is still ripening, but I will have one early variety again this weekend. But a few new fall-like items will be available including endive, spinach, red radishes, and a bit of purple and orange cauliflower. Otherwise, things look pretty similar to previous weeks and include: red and orange sweet peppers, green and yellow bell peppers, jalapenos, poblanos, Italian frying peppers, curly kale, lacinato kale, bulk beets, yellow and red onions, leeks, arugula, salad mix, mini lettuce heads, zucchini, tomatillos, a bit of green cabbage, lots of roma and cherry tomatoes, a small amount of red and heirloom tomatoes, parsley, flowering dill, sage, thyme, and oregano. Carrots are still sizing up. They’ll be at least another week. See you Saturday!

Sunny Side Down
September ushers in the Fall atmosphere which we love the most! We are busy in the kitchen and bakery with canning salsa and working up some new fall flavors!
