Open Saturday, Sept. 21st, 8:30-11am in Water Tower Park

Hello MP Market Goers!

As fall begins to paint the world in warm hues, we’re reminded of the warmth and love that our furry friends bring into our lives.

Have you seen our new, this season, vendor Saving Grace Cat Rescue, at the market? This dedicated non-profit organization, based in Mineral Point, WI, focuses on giving homeless and abandoned cats a second chance. Founded in 2022, they’ve successfully facilitated nearly 200 adoptions and spayed/neutered over 200 feral cats. As a foster-based 501c3, all cats are cared for in volunteer homes until they’re ready for adoption. Their mission is to find forever homes for cats and reduce stray overpopulation through spay and neuter services. Completely volunteer-run and funded by private donations, they are always in need of more volunteers to help advance their mission!

🎉 How You Can Help:
💖 Adopt: If you’re looking to add a furry friend to your family, consider adopting one of their wonderful cats!

🎁 Donate: Every dollar counts! Consider making a one-time or monthly donation through their website. Or, this week their biggest need is kitten & cat kibble! They had 5 new foster families start over the weekend which is fantastic, but it also means there are more cats in their care and are in need of more supplies! The kitties will greatly appreciate having a full belly from your donation! You can drop items off at market Saturday or send them directly through their Amazon wishlist.

📯 Spread the Word: Share their mission with your friends and family. The more people who know about them, the more lives they’re able to save!

✨  Volunteer Opportunities: They’re always on the lookout for passionate volunteers! If you love cats and are interested in becoming a foster, stop by their booth Saturday!

Check out their booth this Saturday and follow them on Facebook for updates, heartwarming stories, and photos of their rescues!

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:

Beef, Pork, Bacon, Brats, Chicken, Eggs, Cheese, Honey, Artisan Breads, Coffee, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods, Breakfast Burritos, Garlic, Squash, Onions, Beets, Radishes, Cauliflower, Leeks, Kale, Swiss Chard, Tomatillos, Cherry Tomatoes, Roma Tomatoes, Heirloom/Saladette Tomatoe, Sweet & Spicy Peppers, Lettuce, Salad Mix, Arugula, Green Beans, Spinach, Sage, Thyme, Oregano, Parsley, Dill, Pickles, Houseplants, Mums, Watercolor Drawings & Notecards, Aronia Canned Goods, Rugs, Sheepskin Weavings, Knit Felted Accessories, Quilted Tote Bags & Stickers, Crocheted Items, Beeswax Candles & Bulk Beeswax, Recycled Hand-Sewn Shopping Bags, and much more. Aaron’s Peppers
Fresh from the garden: Aaron’s pick for 2024
The Bulgarian Carrot Pepper*
and Bulgarian Carrot HOT Pepper “Jelly”
In quotes because, by definition, it’s really a jam.
*It’s an heirloom, meaning that you can save the seeds.
Did cut one pepper open and counted 155 seeds.
According to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach: the length of time these seeds can be expected to remain
viable (with a germination rate at an acceptable level), IF stored properly, is 2 years.
Thank you for exploring what the Mineral Point Market has to offer!

Barham Gardens & Renewed Traditions
Renewed Traditions will be there with rugs and sheepskin weavings and knit felted accessories.
Barham Gardens will have Aronia Applesauce, Aronia Rhubarb jam and Aronia Pepper jam (great over cream cheese with crackers!).

Calaur Farm
Our garlic is cured and ready for you! Calaur Farm hopes to see you Saturday with our mix of hardneck garlic, starting with our main varieties of Music and German Extra Hardy.
On our small family farm, we are still in the early years of growing certified organic hardneck garlic. We are having so much fun experimenting with new heirloom varieties and see how they respond to our soil and climate. Compared to most supermarket garlic, which tends to be softneck varieties, hardneck garlic has a central flowering stalk called a scape and produces fewer but larger bulbs. These varieties produce a more complex flavor, ranging from mild and sweet to lingering heat. They are also more suitable for growing in northern climates, where we plant early October and harvest in July.
This year we added two new Creole varieties, the spicy Metechi and the sweet Italian Aglio Rosso di Sulmona. If you are interested in a bulk order, find us at the market or text (608-778-8895) or email us any time.

Farmer’s Daughter Bakery and Kitchen
Hey market friends!
Still. No. Goatlings. To. Snuggle…
Depressing times here on the farm. I don’t ask for much. (Just give me the babies already!!)
Silage season and soybean harvest is in full swing, so make sure you’re watching out for all the farm equipment; as when he’s not on the farm, Brian is in one of those tractors; and he’s watching for you!
This week we’ll have our tables full of our regular scheduled baking items, but, it’s time… Time for the apple cider donuts to make the annual appearance! And no – these are not from a mix that you just add the liquid and/or eggs to. It’s a full on ‘boil the cider down to concentrate it and the flavor’ and then add the rest of the ingredients.
Here’s what we’ll have this week:
Scones: cheddar onion dill, ham and cheese, cranberry orange, apple cinnamon.
Muffins: banana chocolate chip, lemon raspberry, apple streusel.
Bars and Treats: apricot lemon, carmelitas, S’mores, caramel apple cheesecake.
Sweet Rolls: cinnamon, candy apple, berry cream.
And, yes, those apple cider donuts! See you all this weekend!
Remember to pre-order by Noon on Friday! And for goat updates, be sure to check out our Facebook page! See you soon!
Thank you and we’ll see you again soon!
Becky, Helen, Sam and Carly

Just Poured Candle Co.
My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates.
In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug and tick repellent, and lip balm.

I missed being at the market last week, but I’m planning on being back this weekend! I’ll have farm-fresh chicken and duck eggs once again. Our hens are slowing down a little bit so if you would like eggs, it’s best to shop early as I typically sell out. I will also have raw, local honey as well as beeswax candles and bulk beeswax for your own projects. I will also have a few of our shopping totes made from recycled feed bags to help you carry all of your market purchases! I hope to see you Saturday morning.
Thanks,
Mike
