Open Saturday, September 7th, 8:30-11am

Hello MP Market Goers!

As the seasons change and we savor the flavors of fall, we wanted to share some exciting news about a healthier, more natural way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Say goodbye to refined sugars and hello to the rich, wholesome goodness of honey and maple syrup!

Why Choose Natural Sweeteners?

Nutritional Benefits: Both are packed with vitamins and minerals. Honey offers antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals like vitamin C and calcium. Maple syrup, on the other hand, provides a good dose of manganese, zinc, and iron.
Lower Glycemic Index: Better for blood sugar control, they have a slower, more gradual effect on your blood sugar levels.
Unique Flavors: Honey comes in various types, from floral to herbal, while maple syrup ranges from light and delicate to robust and rich. These natural sweeteners can elevate your recipes with their unique profiles and add a touch of sophistication to your dishes.

Cowboy Caviar, rather than putting in 1/2 C of sugar, use 6 T of Driftless Gold Very Dark Strong organic maple syrup.

Delicious Ways to Use Honey and Maple Syrup:

Breakfast: Drizzle on yogurt or oatmeal.
Baking: Substitute for refined sugar in recipes.
Savory Dishes: Add to marinades and glazes.
Beverages: Sweeten teas and coffee.

Tips for Using Natural Sweeteners:

Adjust Quantities: Since honey and maple syrup are sweeter than sugar, you might need to use less. Start with a small amount and adjust to taste.
Mind the Moisture: Honey adds moisture to recipes, so you might need to reduce other liquids slightly when baking.
Store Properly: Keep honey and maple syrup in airtight containers and store them in a cool, dry place to maintain their freshness.

Stop by Driftless Gold and Our Homestead tables’ this week and give natural sweeteners a try while enjoying their delicious, healthful sweetness!

Just Poured Candle Co.
I’ll be at market again this Saturday,  September 7th! My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates.
In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug and tick repellent, and lip balm.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already September, the fair is over and the kids are back in school. Where did the summer go? I am planning on being at the market this weekend with my farm fresh, pasture raised eggs. I may have a dozen duck eggs as well, but time will tell. I will have a large supply of my local, raw, unfiltered honey available and if I have time to get it ready, I will bring my observation bee hive so you can see the bees in action! I also have something new from the hive to bring to the market this week. It’s been a long process, but I have been cleaning beeswax for the last couple of weeks and have managed to make some small beeswax candles. If anyone is interested in beeswax for their own projects, I will also have a couple of 1 pound blocks of wax available. Hope to see you under the water tower on Saturday!
Thanks,
Mike

Other items include bulk red beets, leeks, Swiss chard, kale, yellow onions, green beans (limited supply!), fennel, fresh herbs, salad mix, mini lettuce heads, arugula, a few radish bunches, tomatillos, cherry tomatoes, and roma, heirloom, and red tomatoes. Maybe a few other odds and ends. Carrots are still one or two weeks away. See you Saturday!
