The tomatoes are finally ripening here in my weed patch, er, garden… And among other things, calves are being born, kids are getting ready for school, and summertime is still here! We’ve still got about a month of summer to go – so let’s make the most of it! Join us this weekend for more delicious eats! This weekend, we will be offering the following:

Marr’s Valley View Farm
The Green Bay Packers, arguably the most storied franchise in the National Football League, were organized on Aug. 11, 1919, in the dingy second-floor editorial rooms of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, located on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay. Never imagining what might become of the semipro football team being formed that day, nobody documented who was there or how many were on hand. There had been no announcement of the meeting beforehand, and the Press-Gazette provided no details about it the day after. Whether a full complement of players attended or if it was simply a small gathering of the team’s prime movers was never made clear. Nor was it spelled out if much of the preliminary work had been completed beforehand or if the meeting itself triggered a rapid-fire chain of events. In any event, we thought it was a perfect time to introduce the newest addition to our bratwurst lineup. None other than the Packer Brat! The Packer will be here for a limited time along with it’s collegiate cousin the Badger Brat. Get yours both this Saturday at the Mineral Point Market in time for those game days ahead.
In addition we’ll have our full line of tender, flavorful Black Angus Beef products and pork products on Saturday. Shooting Star Farm
The days seem to be getting shorter, but the cooler weather is lacking. It’s been a hot summer, and l am looking forward to some fall temperatures. Even though it’s hot, some of the cooler weather crops will be available this weekend including salad turnips (a little rough looking, but sweet and juicy!), celery, and possibly some radishes. Baby lettuce heads will be back in limited supply, along with lots of other great stuff: salad mix, arugula, green beans, cucumbers, eggplant, tons of sweet bell and frying peppers, loads of red tomatoes, roma tomatoes, heirlooms, and cherry types, red and colorful beets, cilantro, basil (not for long…), kale, and Swiss chard. Remember you can preorder for Market pickup from 6pm Wednesday evening until 7pm Thursday. Order here. See you Saturday!
