Marr’s Valley View Farm
The Green Bay Packers, arguably the most storied franchise in the National Football League, were organized on Aug. 11, 1919, in the dingy second-floor editorial rooms of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, located on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay. Never imagining what might become of the semipro football team being formed that day, nobody documented who was there or how many were on hand. There had been no announcement of the meeting beforehand, and the Press-Gazette provided no details about it the day after. Whether a full complement of players attended or if it was simply a small gathering of the team’s prime movers was never made clear. Nor was it spelled out if much of the preliminary work had been completed beforehand or if the meeting itself triggered a rapid-fire chain of events. Read more of the story at Packers History | Green Bay Packers – packers.com.
In any event, we thought it was a perfect time to introduce the newest addition to our bratwurst lineup. None other than the Packer Brat! The Packer will be here for a limited time along with it’s collegiate cousin the Badger Brat. Get yours both this Saturday at the Mineral Point Market in time for those game days ahead.
In addition we’ll have our full line of tender, flavorful Black Angus Beef products and pork products on Saturday. If you are in need of a large quantity please place your order in advance and we will have it all ready for you to pick up at the Market. Send an email to marrsvvfmeats@gmail.com or call 608-574-2899 by noon Friday.
See you Saturday! All of us at Marr’s Valley View Farms.

You may Pre-Order by emailing us at overthemoonsoapco@gmail.com; call or text us at 608-574-5458 and we will have your order at our booth. Or, just stop at our tent and peruse our entire line and select your favorite. We have soap dishes and other bath accessories suitable for use with our soaps. We accept cash, local checks, credit and debit cards, or we can email an Invoice via PayPal. We also offer porch pickup at our Dodgeville home.
If you would like us to send you a description of the soaps we carry, just let us know and we will email to you.
Hope to see you at Market very soon!

Shooting Star Farm
While picking beans the other day (and many days), I commented that it’s been a warm summer. Maybe a hot summer. Certainly a dry one. Those stormy mornings when the fields are too wet to work seem like a distant memory of some other season. But with a few exceptions, most of my crops have been doing o.k. – losses having been largely due to deer and weeds (and maybe some excessive heat) rather than the lack of rain. Thank goodness for irrigation! This week I’ll have some kale and Swiss chard from a new (fall) planting, plus baby bok choy. Other items this week include green beans, eggplant, sweet bell peppers, sweet Italian frying peppers, jalapeno peppers, tomatillos, cilantro, red, heirloom, roma, and cherry tomatoes, leeks, red and colorful beet bunches, napa cabbage, possibly a few cucumbers and zucchini, salad mix, arugula, basil, parsley, and dill seed heads. Remember you can preorder for Market pickup from 6pm Wednesday evening until 7pm Thursday. Order here. There may be a bit of rain on Saturday, but it looks to be a great day. See you then!
