Shooting Star Farm
Last week’s market came to a rapid close with the unexpected winds and storm rolling in. We packed up in record time, but not before dozens of amazing customers showed up. Thanks! It’s still just the start of tomato season, but I should have a better supply this Saturday. I’ll have mixed heirlooms, mixed cherry tomatoes, and more red slicing tomatoes. We’ve been pre-weighing containers of zucchini, tomatoes, and beans in advance to keep from cross-contaminating product, but do let us know if you’re looking for certain sizes, colors, etc. We’ll do our best to gather those up. I know this is not anyone’s favorite way of selecting produce, but let’s just pretend we’re at an Italian fresh market!
New this week are fresh, bunched onions. I’ll have red Italian bottle and white varieties. Celery is also new. It’s hoophouse grown with great, full flavor. Other items include cucumbers, a few colorful but smaller eggplants, green cabbage, kale, Swiss chard, green beans, fennel bulb, basil, oregano, red beets, kohlrabi, and a few sweet and hot peppers. I’m also hoping the arugula grows by Friday. Figures crossed.
If you want to pre-order for curbside pick-up, visit www.shootingstarfarmwi.com and click on the “pre-order” tab. Ordering is open Wednesday 6pm-Thursday 7pm. See you Saturday!
