July 18th – Week 12

Scroll down to see individual vendor product offering and pre-order instructions for this week’s market

Congratulations goes to Calli Jo, winner of last week’s market basket giveaway! Next chance to win is August 8th.

While the weather has been playing havoc on our markets up in Water Tower Park our gardens are loving the heat and rainfall. We are on the cusp of an explosion of all things garden, including weeds 🙄.

🕘 Now is the time to really start thinking about what you want to be eating during those long winter months. Do you want to be eating frozen from the grocery store where you never know what’s in it or would you rather spend a little time now to have something spectacular this winter❄️?

With the green beans that I grow, I’ll be making dilly beans (pickled beans), freezing some for a side veggie, and canning a few as well for soups throughout the winter. Tomatoes are also starting to come in and the options are endless with that fruit. You could just blanch them and freeze them for using later, like me you could make a marinara sauce 🍝, or combine them with some of Marr’s ground beef and get some chili in the freezer.

Which ever way you go, you will be eating good! So get your recipes ready, prepare that market list, and get ready to eat healthy and delicious all year round!

Are you curious if the market is a safe place for you to shop? This market will stay a safe and healthy place to shop if we all take measures to protect each other. Check out our covid safety measures to learn more. Remember, we’re in this together!

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:
Beef, Pork, Poultry, Cheese, Eggs, Tomatoes, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Cucumbers, Beets, Fennel, Parsley, Basil, Lettuce, Kale, Scallions, Cabbage. Salad Mix, Arugula Green Beans, Baby Potatoes, Honey, Maple Syrup, Sweet Bread, Scones, Muffins, Cupcakes, Cookies, Bars, Artisan Bread, Coffee, Lemonade, Breakfast Burritos, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods,  Custom Wood Accessories, and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday in Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Shooting Star Farm
The soil finally dried out enough to get some fall transplants in. It always seems strange to be planting cool-weather crops like broccoli and kale in midst of July’s heat and humidity. And although my fall carrots are germinating, I am completely out of summer carrots. That first planting went fast! More in August. What I will have are a few more tomatoes. They’re coming in by bits and I will bring what I can – a mix of cherry, red, saladette, and heirloom types. More green beans this week, too, along with zucchini and summer squash, cucumbers, beets, fennel, parsley, basil, red and green leaf lettuce, smaller mixed lettuces, kale, scallions, and green cabbage. Salad mix this week is baby lettuce only. Still a week or more off on arugula.
If you want to pre-order for curbside pick-up, visit www.shootingstarfarmwi.com and click on the “pre-order” tab. Ordering is open Wednesday 6pm-Thursday 7pm. See you Saturday!
