WINTER IS COMING!

With just 3 official markets left for the season, it’s past time to start stocking up! Add in that several of our vendors are stating that this Saturday will be their final market of the season, and it’s a recipe for stocking up on all thing Mineral Point Market.

If you’re thinking ahead to holiday parties and the local presents you’d like to gift, our artisan vendors have something for everyone. Or, if you want to continue to eat local throughout the winter, stock up this Saturday or ask your favorite vendor what their plans are for the winter and whether there’s a way to get more of their great products throughout the coming months.

Don’t forget, if you play an instrument or sing, we’d love to have at one of our final markets of the season! There are still spots left to be filled.  For more info or to sign up head here: Music at Market .🎹🎺🎻🎸

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:

Beef, Pork, Lamb, Bacon, Brats, Burgers, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods, Breakfast Wraps, Coffee, Carrots, Beets, Radishes, Winter Squash, Cabbage, Kale, Swiss Chard, Celery, Fennel, Leeks, Sweet, Hot, & Snacking Peppers, Eggplant, Onions, Shallots, Variety of Tomatoes, Salad Mix, Green Beans, Fresh Herbs, Honey, Fresh Cut Flowers, Eucalyptus, Fall Mums & House Plants, Artistic Drawings, Engraved Mugs & Tumblers, Photo Greeting Cards, Handmade Soap & Hand-poured Candles, Woolen Gloves & Hats, and much more. Aaron’s Peppers

Aaron’s Peppers last appearance at the Mineral Point Market for the season will be October 7. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce the Mariachi, a pepper new to you, as well as share information about hot peppers in general. In parting, we wanted to share a few tips. When trying a new pepper, start with a nibble at the very end
(opposite the stem). If you’re concerned about the “heat” (amount of capsaicin pronounced kap SAY sin), cut it open and remove the creamy yellow part to which the seeds are attached as well as the ribs that run down the sides of the pepper. That will remove the majority of the “heat.” It’s a good practice to always wear (food preparation) gloves since one day you may be handling the Mariachi – 550 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) but on another, it may be the Carolina Reaper – 1,641,183 SHU (according to the Guinness Book of World Records). And while “heat” is the first thing that comes to mind, please know that there are SO many FLAVORS yet to try.

Just Poured Candle Co.

We’ll be back Saturday for our final market of the season. Hope to see you all there! My name is Holly Adams, and I created Just Poured Candle Co. in 2022 with the support of my family and husband David, a Mineral Point native. Why? Well, I love candles and I love to make things. As a full-time caregiver for my husband, who suffered a C4 spinal cord injury and stroke in 2016, I found candle making as a creative outlet to help relieve everyday stress and fulfill a passion.
My mission is simple. Provide hand-crafted, non-toxic candles that add warmth and inspiration to any room. All my candles are made from 100% soy wax, from soybeans grown in the United States. I also do not use any dyes or additives, and only high-quality fragrance oils that do not contain parabens or phthalates. In addition to making candles, I make several other all natural products as well. Some of my other products include room sprays, bug & tick repellent, and lip balm.

Magic Light Photography

It was great to be back at the Market last week and see so many familiar faces! It looks like those cool fall temps are coming soon as the leaves are already starting to blanket our lawn. I am planning on being at the market once again this week with my local, raw honey. My honey is produced and harvested on our little farm. I will have jars ranging in size from 1/2 pound to a quart (aprox. 2.4 pounds). I will also have my photo greeting cards, as long as there isn’t any rain in the forecast. All of my cards are blank inside and can be used for any occasion. I hope to see you under the water tower this week! If you aren’t able to make it to the market, feel free to contact me to pick up honey at our farm.
Thanks,
Mike

Preston Creek Soapery – Julia Sheppard – Mineral Point

We’ll be back Saturday for our final market of the season. Preston Creek Soapery was founded in 2017 when I started to make handmade soap as a way to funnel my creative energy and calm my sensitive skin. I really enjoy formulating and making small batch vegan soap and shampoo bars, which progressed into making bath and foot soaks, bath bombs, whipped body butter and soap dishes. From day one on my soaping journey, as a vegetarian I chose to make vegan, palm free products. I use high quality skin loving ingredients such as oils, butters, coconut milk, clays, colloidal oatmeal and aloe. I live in Mineral Point with my husband Jeremy on our alpaca farm. Breeding and raising alpacas is a complete joy! In the future I hope to bring my alpaca yarn to the market. I’m so excited to meet you all on the following Saturday mornings: August 26th, September 23rd and October 7th.
