Open Saturdays 8:30-11am in Water Tower Park

Hello MP Market Goers!

I’m sure you all recognize this wonderful lady! Mary Jean James of James’ Pine- Valley Farm has been with the market for many years selling chicken, eggs, and cheese. Her stand graced the corner of the pavilion for over 20 years. We’re so very grateful for all the years she put in to the market and for the amazing products she was able to offer. We wish her and her husband, Ralph, all the joys of official retirement! If you see them in and around town, wish them the best! Now they’ll be able to catch even more of their grandkids games and events!

But before Mary Jean retired, she found someone perfect to fill her tables! Her sister-in-law, Jennifer of PJ’s Poultry! It’s all in the family, right!😆 Welcome Jennifer! We’re so excited to have you!

This season PJ’s Poultry will have eggs, cheese, and you guessed it, CHICKEN! But more, they will have up to 14 different cuts of chicken! From whole chickens to chicken feet and everything in between! Their path to providing locally raised chicken and eggs began with their son Frank. As a member of the Pleasant View 4-H Club, he wanted to show meat chickens. A few years later they purchased a small 29-acre farm just 3 miles east of Mineral Point.

Stop by their stand this Saturday and say hello while checking out all their great products!

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:

Beef, Pork, Chicken, Bacon, Brats, Burgers, Eggs, Cheese, Artisan Breads, Coffee, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods, Lettuce Heads, Salad Mix, Arugula, Spinach, Bunched Beets, Kohlrabi, Zucchini, Mini Red Spring Onions, Rhubarb, Cilantro, Dill, Pickles, Jams, Honey, Syrup, Soup, Bedding Plants & Hanging Baskets, Fresh Cut Flowers, Water Color Pencil Drawings, Handwoven Rugs and Weavings, and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday in Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Our Grade A certified organic maple syrup is available in three grades: Amber Rich, Dark Robust, and Very Dark Strong. Richly flavored Amber Rich offers a sweet, rich taste and serves well as a delectable topping; think oatmeal, Greek yogurt, and ice cream. Dark Robust is known for its full-bodied flavor. This flavorsome favorite is lovely on pancakes, in coffee as a sweetener, and is fantastic as a glaze. Let’s not forget our Very Dark Strong option. This product boasts being the strongest of the maple flavors; a shining favorite when used as an ingredient in baked goods, granola, and so much more. Here at Driftless Farm we believe our customers should be able to consistently choose their favorite of the flavors.

I will once again be bringing our farm fresh chicken and duck eggs to the market this weekend. Our duck eggs are limited to 2-3 dozen/week, so if you want duck eggs, you better get to the market early! I did find another jar of honey, so I will have a quart of honey available as well.
Thanks,

Shooting Star Farm
Rain, rain. We haven’t had a shortage this spring, and I am so grateful to all the hardy market-goers who came out to support us last Saturday through the constant soaking. It looks like we have a dry stretch in store which means we can finally hoe, plant, and get caught up in the fields. I’ve got some transplants that bursting out of their little pots! This week I will have lots of lettuce heads – romaine, butter, and beautiful mixed mini varieties. Other greens include salad mix, arugula, and spinach. Bunched red beets and kohlrabi are still coming from the hoophouse, and I might even have a few early zucchinis from the field (fingers crossed). Also new this week are bunches of mini red spring onions. I grew them from my own “sets” and they worked out pretty well! I’m hoping to have dill and cilantro, along with a few other odds and ends. Come early for limited supply items. You can pre-order this week at my website. See you Saturday!
