Hello MP Market Goers!

The food you buy at the farmers market is seasonal. It is fresh and delicious and reflects the truest flavors. Shopping and cooking from the farmers market helps you to reconnect with the cycles of nature in our region. As you look forward to asparagus in spring, savor sweet corn in summer, or bake pumpkins in autumn, you reconnect with the earth, the weather, and the turning of the year. Here’s some more reasons to support your local farms.

10 Reasons to Support Farmers Markets | CUESA

Another way to support your local farms is by recognizing that it’s June Dairy Month – last weekend we had many visitors enjoying their Iowa County Dairy Breakfast on the picnic tables in the park. This Saturday LaFayette County has their breakfast on the farm at Stauffacher Highway Dairy Farms, 16639 WI-23 Darlington.

But don’t forget to head to the market before or after your dairy breakfast! And while there sign up for this month’s MARKET BASKET GIVEAWAY!

From our local fruit, veggie, & flower growers, to our local beef, pork, & poultry raisers, to our local cheese and artisan producers we thank you for shopping local and supporting our businesses.

Still not comfortable shopping the market or just want to stay in bed a bit longer? Many of our vendors are continuing to offer pre-order options this season.
👉 Be sure to scroll down for vendor specific instructions on pre-ordering their products.
🦺 For more information on our Covid safety precautions, pre-ordering, and curbside pickup visit our covid safety page.

It’s our 26th season of the Mineral Point Market and we love that the market is a place for the community to gather where we can share with you the great local products our vendors have created, grown, and raised for you and your family.

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:
Beef, Pork, Poultry, Cheese, Eggs, Bedding Plants, Hanging Baskets, Carrots, Sugar Snap Peas, Napa Cabbage, Garlic Scapes, Lettuce, Spinach, Beets, Dill, Swiss Chard, Green Kale, Salad Turnips, Radishes, Kohlrabi, Artisan Bread, Coffee & Coffee Beans, Breakfast Burritos, Sweet & Savory Baked Goods, Fresh Cut Flowers, Shea Butter & Goat Milk Soap, Custom Wood Accessories, Honey, and much more. I will not be at the market this weekend as we will be moving to our new home just outside of Mineral Point. I hope to be back at the market later this month. If you have seen any of my photos on Facebook and would like a print or cards made, please feel free to email me at magiclightphotography@gmail.com and let me know what you would like. You can check out some of my latest work at https://www.facebook.com/mlp.michaeljsmith. My work does not handle moisture well, so my market schedule may change depending on the weather. Shooting Star Farm
It’s been a week of late July in early June. A far cry from the frosty wet weather a few weeks ago! But the farming work continues. We’ve been getting in the last of the warm-season crops like melons and field tomatoes, while continuing to plant lettuce, beans, beets, greens, and spinach. Fall crops will be going in soon. Hard to believe! And the harvests continue. This week I hope to have bunched carrots from the hoophouse, the first sugar snap peas (limited supply – if I have any left after website orders!), and the first heads of napa cabbage. We also just picked our garlic scapes – the center stalk on hard-necked garlic which would eventually bloom if not removed. It has a very nice garlic flavor without too much punch. Add to salad dressings, eggs dishes, or anywhere you like garlic. Try this recipe for cilantro garlic scape pesto. It’s delicious! I could eat it like soup. Hot days call for cool salads. I have beautiful lettuce from the field: baby bibb, romaine, oakleaf, and butter, plus larger romaine and green leaf heads. The spinach crop this week is big – in size and quantity. The larger leaves are mild and great in salads or cooked. Other items on the table will include bunched red beets, dill, Swiss chard, green kale, salad turnips (limited), red radishes, and a bit of kohlrabi. Lots of goodies. If you’d like to pre-order for Market pickup, you can do so here until 7pm Thursday night. See you Saturday!

Spensley Farm
Spensley Farm will not be attending the Mineral Point Market this Saturday. In the meantime, please contact us for special orders, for pickup or delivery to the Mineral Point area – thank you for your support.
