June 27th – Week 9

Scroll down to see individual vendor product offering and pre-order instructions for this week’s market

It got a little wet last week during market, wow! Thank you all for coming out despite what Mother Nature was giving us. As always, Rain or Shine come Saturday morning it’s market time. Thankfully, this Saturday is looking much better!

Do you know that the Mineral Point Market turns 25 this year? It is so surprising to me that before markets became popular this market was already going strong. That’s in huge thanks to you our customers! This market keeps growing each year with great new vendors because you’ve chosen to shop local and support your local farmers and artisans, so thank you!

Next week is July 4th weekend and as part of the celebration Water Tower Park will be in use by the city on Saturday morning for Lunch in the Park. Therefore, as in past years we’re having a Pop Up Market Friday July 3rd in Water Tower Park from 4-6 pm. So don’t miss out, you’ll still be able to get all your great market products, just a day earlier, for your 4th of July celebrations. Hope to see you all there!

Are you curious if the market is a safe place for you to shop? This market will stay a safe and healthy place to shop if we all take measures to protect each other. Check out our covid safety measures to learn more. Remember, we’re in this together!

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:
Beef, Pork, Bacon, Poultry, Cheese, Eggs, Fennel Bulbs, Carrots, Parsley, Oregano, Beets, Salad Turnips, Radishes, Scallions, Kohlrabi, Napa Cabbages, Cucumbers, Lettuce, Salad Mix, Arugula, Basil, Dill, Sweet Bread, Scones, Muffins, Pies, Cookies, Bars, Breakfast Burritos, Artisan Bread, Coffee, Sweet and Savory Baked Goods, Fresh Cut Flowers, Handcrafted Cards, Goat Milk Soap, Custom Wood Accessories, and much more. Come and check it all out!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday in Water Tower Park, Business Hwy 151 at Madison Street, Mineral Point! 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Happy Harbor Tees
Hi there! Allow me to e-introduce myself, I’m Esther Hill an artist who lives in Dodgeville. I’m an oil painter and I recently started to design t-shirts. You may have seen me at the market without knowing it because we just don’t know each other yet. I love food. I love the earth, animals, and people who produce it for us. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Mineral Point Market, I designed a shirt for the occasion and I’m happy to share it.
Even during this uncertain time filled with hardships, we have loads to be thankful for including our community and access to nutritious food grown by our neighbors. It’s a feat to be celebrated having a thriving market in a community for quarter of a century. Now more than ever it is important to gather at the table, albeit 6 feet apart.
You can order t-shirts now, the opportunity will be open now through June 29th and then we go to press so don’t delay. Be a cheerleader for delicious, local food!
The details:
1. Unisex adult t-shirts run true to size and are forest green heather.
2. “What’s on the front? I can’t quite tell from the image mock-up…” The whimsical style depicts some of your market favorites including basil, strawberries, tomato, honey, cheese and lettuce.
3. T-shirts are $25 each, add $2 for XXL. (No extra tax)
4. Payment is due at the time of your pickup. Cash preferred, Square and Venmo payment options are also available.
5. Pickup days are at market during normal market hours of 8:30 am-11 am on the following Saturdays: July 11, 18, and 25 and August 1st.
To order, please email happyharbortees@gmail.com with your first & last name and the sizes you would like to reserve. Order now through June 29th at 10pm.
If you have any questions please email happyharbortees@gmail.com or call/text me at 608-425-9858.
Thanks for supporting this great market, local artists and food producers! I can’t wait to meet you at the market.

Scrappin’ With Joni
I will have handmade cards for all occasions; birthdays, anniversaries, babies, get well, retirement, sympathy. Sending a handmade card is a great way to say “I care”. Check out my journals, notepads and bookmarks. Follow my Facebook page Scrappin with Joni to see some of the product I will have at the market. I look forward to seeing you at the Mineral Point Market, stop
by and say hi. I am under the red canopy. Please note: if it is raining I will not be at Market (water and paper are not a good combination).

Shooting Star Farm
Happy Summer everyone! With summer comes an expanding list of crops. This week I’ll some young fennel bulbs, carrots, parsley, oregano, and possibly the first summer squash and broccoli. I will also continue to have bunched red beets, salad turnips (possibly the last of this season), red radishes, scallions, kohlrabi (a new crop), a few napa cabbages, and more cucumbers. Lettuce is still amazing, with gorgeous large romaine, red leaf, green leaf, green butter, and a lovely mix of medium-sized mixed heads. Salad mix, arugula, basil and dill will also be ready for harvest with more spinach next week. Unfortunately, my pea crop is done. I had such a bumper crop last year that I replicated everything hoping to obtain similar harvest, but the plants did not thrive. Turns out they succumbed to fusarium wilt. Plants yellowed, remained stunted, and yielded just a fraction of their usual harvest. It’s somewhat relieving to know the failure wasn’t entirely in my hands, but I do miss the peas!
Please remember to order for curbside pickup beginning Wednesday at 6pm until Thursday 7pm. Go to www.shootingstarfarmwi.com for more info. Thanks to everyone who pre-orders! Also, I’m considering adding a home delivery service to Dodgeville and Mineral Point. Customers would order Mondays and receive doorstep delivery on Wednesday afternoon for a small delivery fee. If this option interests you, please send me a quick note at starfarm@mhtc.net. See you Saturday!
