May 22nd – Week 4

Scroll Down for a complete list of who will be vending this week

Hello MP Market Goers!

Did your Covid garden get away from you last summer??? Not interested in weeding again this season? If so, then the Mineral Point Market is the place for you. At the market we’ve got several full time vegetable vendors that bring fresh, delicious, quality vegetables to market each week. Let these vendors help you eat healthy and delicious all season long.

Each week new vegetables are popping up on their tables helping you to make easy meals. This week is no different! This week look for swiss chard, asparagus, salad turnips, rhubarb (might not consider this a veggie but it is), radishes, salad mix, and baby bok choy. What will you make for dinner this week? Bures Berry Patch says “Now’s the time to make asparagus soup to put in the freezer for winter”. Here’s their favorite recipe for Cream of Asparagus Soup. If freezing, they say to wait to add the dairy until you pull the soup out of the freezer.

Still not comfortable shopping the market? Many of our vendors are continuing to offer pre-order options this season.
👉 Be sure to scroll down for vendor specific instructions on pre-ordering their products.
🦺 For more information on our Covid safety precautions, pre-ordering, and curbside pickup visit our covid safety page.

It’s our 26th season of the Mineral Point Market and we love that the market is a place for the community to gather where we can share with you the great local products our vendors have created, grown, and raised for you and your family.

Here is a partial list of items at this week’s market:

King’s Hill Farm has been so grateful for the rain and warmer temperatures! We planted our first round of outdoor tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and basil before the rain came and will be planting an acre of winter squash early next week (weather depending, of course). This week, we continue to have a lot of greens such as: salad mix, spinach, butterhead lettuce, romaine lettuce, kale, and chard. Our asparagus is also finally producing like it means it so we should have plenty this weekend! I will not be at the market this weekend as we will be moving to our new home just outside of Mineral Point. I hope to be back at the market later this month. If you have seen any of my photos on Facebook and would like a print or cards made, please feel free to email me at magiclightphotography@gmail.com and let me know what you would like. You can check out some of my latest work at https://www.facebook.com/mlp.michaeljsmith. My work does not handle moisture well, so my market schedule may change depending on the weather. Hope to see you this Saturday!

Shooting Star Farm
Warmer weather means crops are growing – as are the weeds! We got some hoeing done before much needed rain, and are hoping for a little more moisture before planting peppers and warm-season crops next week. It’s still greens season, and I’ll have plenty plus more variety. In addition to salad turnips, salad mix, arugula, and gorgeous mixed lettuce heads, I’ll have some beautiful spinach, bunches of green curly kale, a limited number of beet bunches from the hoophouse, and possibly the first kohlrabi. Baby bok choy, red radishes, and large heads of red leaf and green butter lettuce will round out the table. Don’t forget to pick up tomato, sweet pepper, and basil plants this weekend. To read about varieties or to place an order, visit my website here and go the “order” page. You can open a file with variety descriptions. The ordering window is from Wednesday 6pm through Thursday 7pm for Saturday market pick-up. Saturday looks to be summery and pleasant. Jenny
